Indian Historical Art





Shortly after the beginning of the first civilization was born in Mesopotamia ( modern-day Iraq and Syria ) around 3500 BC e . there are also the earliest urban settlements on the river Indus ( around 3000 BC ) . Cities like Mohenjo - daro and Harappa were the largest and most developed . Mohenjo - daro is occupied 60 hectares , had a rectangular shape and is approximately 40,000, and important buildings ( such as the citadel, the school , the oldest of the bathroom and sanitation in the world ) were built of bricks ( baked bricks ) .





The connection of the Middle East and China realized many nomadic tribes across India , but especially over Persia . Thus, the Indian art remained for many years indigenous and original .
The Indian Art survey course has been designed to develop a critical appreciation of the major art traditions of South Asia from their inception up to the modern period. The course surveys the visual arts of India and presents the various styles developed in the Indian subcontinent together with their historical. This course has been designed to develop a critical appreciation of the major Buddhist, Hindu and Islamic artistic traditions of India, and will also consider colonial and modern art and architecture. The student is expected explain their development and changes.
